Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 16-man squad for the upcoming Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Kohli has been left out of the squad and Rohit Sharma has been made the skipper.
His workload has been immense as he is the all-format captain of the national team and has played cricket continuously this year.
The tournament starts on September 15 and will continue till September 28. The six-team qualifiers are currently taking place in Malaysia after which the main event will get underway.
